Two other women, also breast cancer survivors, said their husbands left them after they were diagnosed. Both had to have mastectomies (in case anyone doesn’t know, this is the surgical operation to remove one or both breasts).

The first woman said her husband told her that he would rather see her dead than see her lose her breasts. The second woman had her operation and waited all day to be picked up by her husband, who never arrived. By nightfall, one of the nurses offered to give her a ride, and she came home to find the house empty.

Obviously, these are extreme cases of a man’s reaction to his wife’s breast cancer, but this is what I see when I see the “I ♥ Boobies” bracelets. I see love of the body parts, not the person being treated—not the patient, not the victim, not the survivor.

I feel very very very lousy, now…

Argh.

Okay, look. Some people cover their heads because they want to. Some do it as a voluntary religious devotion, even in places and faiths that don’t require it or don’t do it often. I get tired of the attacks on people for covering up.

I posted a picture of different religious head coverings. Someone pitched a fit, because it doesn’t go into detail. It wasn’t about the details. It was about not assuming that everyone with a scarf or cap is oppressed and/or going to attack Americans.

I’m so fucking done right now.

Do you have any nutritional advices for someone on the autism spectrum? Do we require extra animal fats/meat to function properly in terms of gut flora and so on...?

sabelmouse answered:

from what i’ve read avoiding gluten is a good idea as well avoiding anything toxic like processed foods.

i would guess that animal fats ectr would be good but i really am not an expert.

i might have posted on this. check my tag [really bad memory, me].

Avoiding gluten is only worth doing if you ACTUALLY HAVE A GLUTEN INTOLERANCE. It’s not a general autism thing, its an intolerance thing, don’t restrict your diet randomly.

many children with autism have digestive problems and gluten free has helped them.

Right yes, but if you don’t have an intolerance it won’t help. It isn’t making them less autistic, its making them not ill. It isn’t something someone who doesn’t have an intolerance should try. Stop reccomending it for all autistic people.

This. Gluten free just made me grumpy.

Son of a bitch! Raggedy Ann is a symbol of the anti-vaxxer movement? I mean, I get that the family should have been told that the school was vaccinating the kids and vaccines weren’t well understood, but I’ve always loved RA and its a blow to find out she’s been used as a symbol of something I disagree with so strongly.

As some of you might already have guessed, I’m a fan of Japanese girl idols. One of the many, many idol groups in existence today in Japan is NMB48, a Osaka-based spin-off group of the (in)famous AKB48. NMB has a weekly show that’s…

I’VE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR YEARS! *saves this for later, because the show needs this kind of thing* *And I have no interest in most magical girl shows post-Cardcaptor Sakura*

Anonymous asked:

I don't want to come across as rude or anything, but what is spoon loss?

allismyells answered:

Oh, it relates to the spoon theory! You can read more about the spoon theory here.

Basically the spoon theory is just a way for chronically ill people to talk about their energy levels and how their energy comes/goes, so spoon loss would be referring to losing energy.

Like today I am having a bad day with my chronic illness, my pain level is very high and has eaten up most of my energy for today. Another way to say that is that I’ve suffered a major spoon loss due to my high pain level.

I hope that helps! c:

  • Willow: Do we really need two punchbowls?
  • Kat: Well, one's got leaves on it and the other's got grapes.
  • Tchipakkan: The silver one is for punch, the glass one is for anything acidic.
  • Willow: We are not a Victorian manor! We do not entertain!
  • Kat: We'll never be a Victorian manor if we don't have two punchbowls!
  • (Edit) I feel the need to add that my mother then said
  • Mother: We need to entertain more.

t-keto asked:

What is your favorite kind of food?

omnomadric answered:

Generally, whatever food’s in front of me. Let me show you what’s in front of me right now.

Tegan introduced me to an Earth delicacy.
It’s a kind of soup, with noodles in it; and it comes in lots of different flavours. There’s chicken and prawn and beef and pork. This flavour is “instant”. I’m not sure what nature of animal an “instant” is, but it is delicious.

I’ll have to ask the Doctor about Instants. I hope they’re not sentient, then I’d have to stop eating this soup.

Remember that time when they made up a disease for black ppl when we didnt wanna be stuck as slaves?

Remember when they operated on black women with no anesthesia to get modern gynecological surgical procedures?

Remember when they sterilized poor woc without consent to keep us from ‘creating more undesirables’?

Remember when the government allowed Black men to go untreated with Syphilis even after a cure was discovered?

Remember when minority heavy areas in cities were sprayed with radioactive material to ‘test’ how America could handle a nuclear fallout?

Oh, you dont? Because I do…

Go look it up. Every single one was done by a white supremacist nation called America.

FOR SCIENCE!
