That’s why I love it so much though.  Because it’s so, so easy to forget this — SHIELD constantly forgets this — but Steve *is* a child.  He was twenty-six years old and terrified when he died.  And to him, that was maybe ten days ago.  Just — ten days ago, he died.  Eleven days ago, he watched his best friend and protector fall to his death in a clusterfuck he will always believe was his fault.  Ten days ago, he died while the listening to Peggy cry on the other end of a static-filled radio.  Ten days ago, he was still in 1945.  He was supposed to leave it; it wasn’t supposed to leave him.  And he woke up, and everyone he loved was gone, and now he’s confronted with an agency that’s lying to him about everything and he’s just found in their storage facility the exact weapon that killed the person he loved most and he’s arguing with a man who looks far too much like someone he called a friend, who he knows now is dead, who died violently in a car crash, and he doesn’t know Tony well enough to know this is how he deals with fear, so to him, this is just…someone with money, with all the privilege and padding he and Bucky never had, who would never have to go to war if he didn’t want to, making light of a situation way too close to Steve’s chest.

Steve was being prickly as hell through most of this movie, but he was bleeding out and in pain and had no one to bleed on.  The comment he makes to Tony, about knowing guys with none of that worth ten of him?  Imagine all of the people he was thinking about then.  All of the people he knew he’d never see again; who he wished he wasn’t standing there to never see again.  Trying to organize a time bomb and remembering the Commandos.  Trying to co-lead with a man he doesn’t yet understand, and remembering Bucky.  Trying so hard not to keep seeing him fall.  Being expected to be above all of those messy human emotions, because he’s Captain America, and while he was asleep that name became a legend so much bigger than any real, living person could be.

He’s only twenty-six.

I just made myself sad.

“You’re not gonna make the world any better by shouting at it!”

#this is what I love about Donna #she was supposed to be a one-off companion in a Christmas special #she was supposed to be annoying and loud and bossy #(Not many of us found her annoying) #instead #she imbued the qualities that so many ordinary people like us imbue #she wasn’t kick ass with a gun#she didn’t have technical knowledge or medical knowledge #but she wasn’t some young doe-eyed thing either #Donna Noble demanded respect #she did not expect it #SHE DEMANDED IT #furthermore she demanded it on behalf of everyone else#no one could piss on someone else while Donna Noble was around #she only had her voice #and sometimes it felt like it wasn’t enough #but that never stopped her#because if her voice was the only weapon she had #she would use it to change the world #or die trying #THAT is the spirit of hero #THAT is what makes an ordinary person extraordinary #they refuse to let others define their strengths and weaknesses #they refuse to give up #DONNA NOBLE #she was important LONG before she became the most important woman in all the universe (via irony-rocks)

And this is why the Doctor finds her so brilliant. Because he wouldbe best friends with someone whose voice is their weapon.  After all, isn’t that his weapon of choice?

This is why I love Donna.

who has ever thought this ever

Don’t let your children drink water it might make them think drinking other clear liquids is okay do you want your child drinking bleach

don’t let your children walk, it might make them think its okay to walk away from home

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure not even people who use heroin believe it is beneficial.

Don’t let your child breathe air. Studies have shown thatin the event of a fire, children who breathe in air are much more likely to breathe in smoke than children who’ve never breathed air.

Don’t have a child. 100% of children grow up and die. You’re literally condemning your own children to die.

What the mother-fucking FUCK.  First off, most vaccinations are given before you’re 5 years old (there are a few boosters, but not a lot and most kids HATE getting them) and won’t remember it.
Second, you wouldn’t be anti-vax if you were old enough to remember polio or smallpox epidemics.  You know why there aren’t any cases of those horrible diseases in the US today?  Because we vaccinated against them for enough years that they aren’t here anymore.
Plus, anti-vaxxers got hold of Africa.  Polio is making a comeback in Africa because people have stopped vaccinating against it.

Anti-vaxxer logic justifies my hate.

Semi-guilty confession time: I eventually want to get a portrait done in the classic gothic romance cover heroine style. It would be so much fun!

(Yes, I’m married to a very talented artist, but this particular style isn’t at ALL the sort of thing he does.)

I’d love this myself. Gauzy, Stevie Nicks ish white frock, hair wild and flowing… Come to think of it… I just described Lilith.
